NYCC Canne'boids Sneak Peek #3- Canne'geist & Packaging!

My friend Andrew & I sat down on August 23rd and threw some ideas around regarding the packaging for NYCC. I wanted to make this release Halloween themed as having NYCC in October is just prime territory for spooky glyos toys. So, Andrew worked out this doodle of the packaging concept:

I took that sketch, went on my old iMac and drew the following box over his original template, got it printed at Staples and this box is the result. We wanted the box to look like an old Halloween scene, so the whole box depicts this. Once this idea was created, we had a problem: if it's a scene, how do we have the canne'boid look out of the box?? Then, Andrew came up with the brilliant idea of having a crumbling brick-wall with a hole in the center of it for the canne'boid to peak out of. Here's some shots of it, check it out:

The box was a blast to make, and we're already thinking about the design for the next release. We hope everyone who gets one enjoys it.

Next is a picture of one of the Canne'geists, Beth did a top-notch job painting the teeth & eyes on this head, it almost looks like I made it out of sculpey. You probably can't see it, but around the eyes is glow-in-the-dark paint that frames the eyes adding an eerie glow when put under the light. I tried to show this in the 2nd photo, but I don't think it's very visible. :?

More pics coming soon as we count down the hours until NYCC. This will be my first con selling my toys, so here's hoping the furry little buggers sell well. ^_^

NYCC Canne'boids Sneak Peek #2- Canne'bats & Arctic Canne'boids!

Each Arctic Canne'boid & Canne'bat have hand-sculpted, one-of-a-kind heads. The arctic canne'boids have cast resin hands. Some quick pics:

Arctic Canne'boids-Cryo'nokk Pack
"Cryo'nokk is an alpha canne'boid whose territory consists of the cold northern mountains of Slauria. His pack are suitably adept at living in an arctic environment; they are immune to cold and a can never freeze to death. Their tusks are harder then diamond and rarely break, enabling them to stab into prey and bleed them out onto the snow. Cryo'nokk fears nothing, except the insane canne'boid called Gnarrltooth."

List of Canne'boids for NYCC!! O_O

Okay, here's the run-down on what I should have at the show:

x6 "Canne'geists"- (Ghost-like Canne'boids) Neon green cast canne'boid heads & hands, on a GitD body with white fur.

x6 "Canne'punks"- (1980's Style Punker Canne'boids) Dark purple cast canne'boid heads & hands on a black body with GitD arms/legs. Each have mulitple colors painted onto each finger nail & will have real metal chains on them made by my GF Beth. Their fur is also multi-colored as the canne'punks all dye their fur in different colors.

x6 Yellow Canne'boids- (Electrikill Pack)- Yellow cast canne'boid heads & hands on a black body with red fur. These canne'boids aren't Halloween related, they're just the pack members for Electrikill, an Alpha Canne'boid with electrical powers.

x6 "Canne'Trickers"- (Trick or Treater style canne'boids)- Dark/Light Orange cast heads & hands on a GitD body with black arms/legs & black fur. Each one will come with a tiny cardboard mask for them to wear while out rounding up candy.

x3 "Canne'Bats"- These have hand-sculpted heads on a buildman body with black cloth wings and a dark brown fur. Each have GitD eyes and white painted toenails.

x4 "Arctic Canne'boids"- Each canne'boid has cast white hands with metallic purple fingernails, but each of their heads are hand-sculpted & original. All have eyes that GitD blue and pearl colored teeth and white fur.

There should also be some stuff available online after the con as I ran out of bodies & the Canne'Lanturns (canne'boids that are part jack o'lanturn) got bumped out of the NYCC release. Pictures are coming soon, I'll show off the Canne'bats & Arctic Canne'boids first as they're 100% done, so stay tuned.

NYCC Canne'boid Release Sneak Peek

Just a shot of my work area, see what you can see. More will be revealed soon...

New month = new blog header photo!

I really need to just sit down and make photos for each month in advance again. I did it last year for June, July & August though. This past August's picture was actually supposed to be the picture for JUNE, but due to delays with the Canne'boid release it got pushed back until August. July was just completely glanced over so I didn't want to miss September.

In this photo, we see Bramblespine and his pack attacking some Genedrone revolutionaries. I really like the gold seen with Matt's most recent release, it's an excellent compliment to any black pieces and this gobon just screams Destro's Despoiler or other G.I. Joe Iron Grenadier vehicles. I will be using the axis joints on Zee'jogg, the Planet Smasher as his maroon skin color should look good with gold (you can read his bio & see a head-shot of him HERE, just scroll down a little bit).

Also hard at work on the Canne'boids 2nd release which should be Halloween themed. I don't want to jinx myself and reveal to much too soon, so stay tuned to this blog and over on the forum HERE for more info as I decide to post it.

OH I almost forgot, if you look to the left of the Bah'glenn Creations logo in the header photo, there is a new size canne'boid which we call the Canne'myte. These have a vicious temperament to match their small stature. Will these become available for sale?? Only time shall tell...

In the words of Matt Doughty, the Canne'boids are GONZO!!

<------( I love this thing LoL)

Thanks to everyone for making my first release a really amazing one. It was hard to juggle the release, making the hand-sculpted parts for each figure, finish the 20+ panel photo comic in time for the release, work 12 and a 1/2 hours a day between 2 jobs AND still have time not to go bananas. Toss in a hurricane, loosing power for 36+ hours Post Offices with incorrectly posted operating hours and it all sounds like a typical release to me.

I could not have done this release without the love-of-my-life Beth whose mad skills at responding to e-mails, making spreadsheets to organize the orders AND make chainmail pieces for each canne'boid during all this madness never ceased to astound and amaze me. When all those order requests started coming in, she did her thing and handled it flawlessly. I love ya babe, thanks for putting up with all my wackiness for the past 4+ years ^_^.

I also thank my good friend Andrew Fuschetti whose insane love and knowledge of toys and paper-modeling was an invaluable asset to this project. Andrew was working on a box for one of my canne'boids secretly as a surprise for at least a month. It was fate when I realized I had no packaging for the release and mentioned this to Andrew who just-so-happened to have a canne'boid box 50% done. THAT was pure luck right there. Thanks a million buddy, you helped make this release great (you all should see the packaging we're working on for the next release, it'll knock your socks off!).

Also, none of this would have been possible if it wasn't for the awesome Jeremy Sung from Spy Monkey Creations and doing such a freakin' AMAZING job casting the canne'boid heads (some of those teeth are VERY pointy which surprised me as I thought they'd get pulled out in the molds). You made a dream come true for me dude, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the excellent work you did.

I also would like to thank Matt Doughty for creating Glyos toys which gave my creativity an outlet to latch onto, for being an amazing human being, friend and all around outstanding bastard. If it weren't for all those piles of paint-covered parts from your first release that spawned the interchangeability of the Glyos line, the Canne'boids might not have been here today. I only hope that someday I will get to the same level you have in your toy making abilities, maybe even getting the canne'boids to the full production level.

Finally, I thank John Kent, you too had a hand in this although not as directly as the others mentioned above. Still, if it weren't for you being my sounding board on numerous ideas or just listening to me blather on & on about the release, I never would have learned what I've learned and made the choices I did. Whenever I had a doubt, a concern or a general worry, you'd somehow provide just the right amount of advice to help me out and for that I thank you.

All those mentioned played a part in making this release a reality, and for that I can't do more then give you my eternal thanks and a promise to keep doing what I do, improve on my flaws and strive to make each release I put out better then it's predecessor.

Here's to future releases with hopefully more canne'boids then you can shake a carnivorous flatworm at! I look forward to seeing everybody at New York Comic Con this October, it's sure to be an awesome time!
